Pride and Prejudice and Pittsburgh (Rachel Lippincott) review

Genre: LGBT Romance, Young Adult, Historical Fiction

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐+1/2⭐

Format: Audiobook (Spotify premium)

Synopsis:

Audrey Cameron lost her spark after her first love broke up with her. Now she can't draw even though it's the one thing she's always loved-And the one thing she needs to do to get into college. After moping around for months her entire life is turned upside down at the flip of a coin-Literally, she's been transported to 1812 at Lucy Sinclair's estate doorstep. As Lucy attempts to help Audrey figure out a way back to 2023 (and also postpone her engagement by her father to a ratty old dude) they become friends and something more...Which isn't the best circumstance in the Regency Era.

Oh to be a girl thrown in the middle of 1812 with three pretty, kind, boys trying to court you while falling in love with a pretty girl...I mean there'll be no air-conditioning or phone signal and I would definitely die one day without those things...the thought is kinda nice.

I don't know what to say other than I loved this so much?!! It's so cute and I have been going through a bit of a Bridgerton/Regency Era romance thing and the audiobook was SO GOOD! It was so well narrated, the language is simple if a tiny bit repetitive, it's just so fun. Audrey and Lucy my beloveds I wish you both nothing but happiness.

I really liked the two main characters, they're funny and engaging, and watching them fall in love was such a journey. It was really amusing to listen to them trying to understand each other's time and oh my god when they danced together and confessed their feelings in the rain *insert feral screaming*.

Overall a super cute and sweet book with an interesting premise and a sapphic love story between a girl from 2023 falling in love with a girl from 1812!

Blog post:

i wanna add that Audrey's love interests are kinda similar to the love interests in Desire & Decorum. We have: the prim and proper one: Mr. Shepherd/Mr. Sinclaire; The adventurous spirit: Alexander/Prince Hamid; the master of horse: James/Mr. Harper; and the token girl: Lucy/Miss Parsons. And also the whole Sinclaire thing lmfao
